Players and Parents survey results – 02/06/21

We recently completed a survey with our senior players, and parents of our junior players around a number of things which are important for the upcoming season. The survey results have helped us understand a little more around some of the actions we could take as a club to reduce our carbon footprint.

We recently completed a survey with our senior players, and parents of our junior players around a number of things which are important for the upcoming season. The survey results have helped us understand a little more around some of the actions we could take as a club to reduce our carbon footprint.

97% of Survey Participants back our Net Zero Ambitions

47% said they would consider eating vegan food/drinks if it was sold by the club

60% said they would like to see bike racks installed around the ground to encourage more people to cycle

34% of people suggested that EV charge points installed in or around the ground would be welcome (none of the survey participants currently have an electric vehicial)

94% of people would like us to install a filtered water faucet at the ground which would encourage people to use reusable water bottles more!

77% would like to see some kind of incentives to encourage people to travel too and from the ground in a more climate friendly way

87% of people said they like the idea of a team bus for away games to cut down on the number of vehicals traveling to away games

A number of interesting comments where also left which we are exploring:

We also looked at transport and travel too and from the ground.

Key findings:

  • the vast majority of people live within 3 miles of the ground 86%
  • 91% of our Parents travel to the ground in cars dispite the short distance
  • More of our Seniors travel via bike or walk than the juniors parents however we do have a number of senior players who live much further from the ground so drive and emit more CO2 because of this
  • Overall our emmisions from our Juniors section for travel is C. 1.95kgs of CO2 a week
  • Our Emissions from our Seniors team is C. 2.58 kgs of CO2 a week

Whats Next

The survey has helped us understand some of the things we can look to work on in the short to longterm look out for updates as we develop the clubs plans to tackle climate change. Transport to and from the ground, reducing waste (plastic bottles) and looking at our equiptment and kit are our major areas of focus at this moment in time!
